Who are we?

Upsurance is an insuretech disrupting the trading of insurance. We operate as a B2B marketplace between underwriters and brokers in one of the largest industries globally. We currently focus on commercial insurance in the UK. Some of our product offerings include commercial combined, combined liability, cyber insurance, marine cargo, property owners, amongst others. Upsurance provides a complete, end-to-end solution across the policy lifecycle. Our risk matching algorithm and data schemas deliver an intuitive, simple solution in a complex environment.

Our team brings a multi-disciplinary approach to market including, B2B marketplace and SaaS products, in addition to engineering, insurance underwriting and distribution expertise.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced engineer to help us develop and deliver our products and services. You will ideally be comfortable sinking your teeth into all parts of our stack from DevOps, to backend and frontend, being an expert in at least one of these areas. There will be lots of opportunities to influence how we build up our product, platform and teams. As an early member of the team, you'll ideally be someone who enjoys owning pieces of work (including the technical breakdown and communicating with wider stakeholders, as well as writing code), takes initiative and enjoys teaching and learning from others.

What you'll do

• Help deliver projects ranging from improving user flows to full new user journey building across our user-facing platform as well as our internal tool.
• Design, build and maintain efficient reusable, reliable and scalable code to help shape user stories.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs whilst also devising creative and effective solutions to these problems.
• Develop technical plans and contribute towards our technical architecture.
• Work on greenfield projects - influence the technical direction of our technical landscape.
